Praksis bases its publication ethics on COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and its own editorial experience.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Submissions must be clear, accessible and free of discriminatory language.
- The work must be original, unpublished and not under review elsewhere.
- Where plagiarism is detected, the manuscript is removed from the review process.
- Citations must be complete and follow the journal’s citation system.
- Only those who have made a substantial contribution may be listed as authors.
- Funding and financial support must be disclosed.
- Authors revise in line with reviewer reports, or explain in writing why they will not.
- Significant errors in published work must be reported without delay.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Editors decide on rejection, acceptance, referral to reviewers or requests for further information; the final decision rests on reviewer reports.
- Content is the sole criterion for acceptance; the author’s identity is not a factor.
- As a rule two positive reports are required. Where reports conflict, a third reviewer is consulted and editors make the final decision.
- All decisions are communicated to authors with reasons.
- Information about submissions is kept confidential; editors withdraw from the process in cases of conflict of interest.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers keep the manuscript and the author’s identity confidential.
- Reviews cover both content and formal aspects such as citation style, abstract and language, with respect for the author’s work.
- Reviewers decline the invitation where the work falls outside their expertise, where they can identify the author, or where they cannot meet the deadline.
- Decisions must be justified in detail and conflicts of interest disclosed.
